EFDS holds biannual meeting for focus County Sports Partnerships

The English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) employs Engagement Advisors who are based across England. As part of their role, they engage with those who support and influence disabled people to be more active across the nine English regions. One of the ways they do this is to work alongside our nine Focus County Sports Partnerships (CSPs).

Mark Fosbrook is the EFDS Engagement Advisor for the West Midlands and South West. Here, he provides an insight on this week's focus CSP meeting.

Mark’s update:

Yesterday, Tuesday 12 May, saw all of our Focus CSPs come together for our biannual meeting to share learning, launch new projects and help develop and deliver what they provide.

At each meeting we identify one of the focus CSPs to talk more about their good practice. This meeting was the turn of Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. They have recently completed some fantastic work in engaging with local further education colleges to deliver Sainsbury’s Active Kids For All Inclusive Community Training. They have delivered, or have planned, 19 workshops this year.

We wanted to upskill the leaders of the CSPs around personalisation and the Children and Young People Local Offer. This was presented by our newest Engagement Advisor, Catherine Slater. This then led on nicely to the Outcome Framework for funding, so we had our Fundraising Manager Anne-Marie Marshall tell us all about it.

"Engagement Advisors always see the benefits of these days"

The other key bonus of the day was the CSPs having the opportunity to network with each other and discuss ideas. There was plenty of time for this, along with updates on Leading Equitable and Accessible Delivery (LEAD) and Charter for Change.

Engagement Advisors always see the benefits of these days and I value them as a useful tool.

The information presented by everyone was excellent and will be really useful to present at our forthcoming Local County Forum.

The presentations were very practical- I certainly learnt from each of them, and took away some excellent information.
