Hosted By Andrew Whitaker, Activity Alliance Strategic Lead – Partnerships, the hour-long online event explored how the sport and physical activity sector can improve its recruitment and retention strategies.

Andrew was joined by Senior Research and Insight Advisor Molly O’Brien who presented the main learnings from the report research into the workforce gap.
Esther Jones PLY, Senior Manager - Disability at Sport England was present to discuss her experiences of working in sport, encompassing her career.

CEO of Disability Sports Coach and Activity Alliance board trustee Peter Ackred focussed on workforce diversity at a strategic level. And Rob Ghahremani, a personal trainer, shared his experiences of gaining qualifications as a PT.
Finally, the Include to Improve programme was introduced by Emma McKenna and Aimee Nuttall. The two-year programme hopes to create more opportunities for disabled people to take part, volunteer and work in sports and activities. Funded by Sport England’s recover and reinvent fund, the programme looks to address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and cost-of-living crisis on disabled people’s engagement with sports and activities at all levels.
