Activity Alliance held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 9 October 2024. Our Chair, Sam Orde, welcomed members, partners, and charity supporters to the event in Loughborough. During the meeting, our team shared some of the charity’s most impactful work from the last 12 months and thanked attendees for their continued commitment to inclusion. Activity Alliance Chair, Sam Orde, and Chief Executive, Adam Blaze, opened the meeting with a warm welcome to all attendees.

Today’s event provided an opportunity reflect on the work done, and look to the future together. Among the agenda items, the Annual Trustees’ Report was presented to attendees.

In the report, Adam writes about his first full year leading the organisation.

"We are creating change and improving people's lives for the better through sport, physical activity and allowing people the opportunity to get active. However, many people still do not have access to meaningful opportunities. We must change that.
"As we launch our new strategy at the end of 2024, we will build on the impact we have had in the last 25 years. Working alongside others, I am confident that we will create a better future."

In her remarks as Chair, Sam sums up the need to reflect on the impact the organisation has, stating "we need to recognise the huge impact from our work".

She goes on to write about the way in which the organisation has adapted to the many challenges that have presented themselves since the charity began. She says:

"I am extremely proud of the determination and passion that our staff team and board trustees have to work towards our vision, and achieve our goals.
"The highlights for me this year include celebrating a real milestone – 25 years as a charity. I became Chair in 2018 when we rebranded as Activity Alliance and within those five years, we undoubtedly faced tests in many ways, quite notably a global pandemic.
"Yet, we cannot forget the many opportunities and positive moments seeing change and our recognition as the leading voice for disabled people in sport and activity."

The meeting also acknowledged changes to our Board of Trustees. Peter Ackred and Joseph Rham were welcomed with the group thanking Rob Belbin, Phil Friend, Piers Martin and Genny Cotroneo for their service on the board.
