The Activity Alliance Learning Hub, launched today, will allow people and organisations to access training and learning linked to disabled people’s inclusion in sport and physical activity.

We want more people to benefit from the opportunity to learn, develop and then use this knowledge to be more inclusive in their own activities.

With just four in ten (43%) disabled people feeling they have the chance to be as active as they want, the need for high-quality training has never been more important.

Chloe Studley, Programmes Manager (Workforce) at Activity Alliance said:

"We know that there is an overwhelming bank of evidence that shows more needs to be done to ensure sport and physical activity is accessible for disabled people. As an organisation we have a wealth of incredible resources and training, and the Learning Hub will bring a lot of it together into one place.
"Training and education play a huge part in ensuring disabled people are given the same opportunities to be active. To be able to bring our course and programmes onto one platform means many more people will easily find our offers, and in turn mean a better educated workforce.
"With accessibility at the heart of the design, we’re extremely excited about the potential this has to close the fairness gap between the levels of activity for disabled people and their non-disabled peers."

Courses on the new Learning Hub include our CIMSPA accredited Inclusive Activity Programme. There are also modules on delivering an excellent service for disabled customers and inclusive communications.

Disabled people are less than half as likely to ‘see people like them’ playing, working, and volunteering in sport and physical activity. The need to develop and support a more representative workforce across the sport and physical activity sector is clear.

Adam Lever, Disability Sport Officer at the University of Nottingham was part of a team that developed the Hub. He said:

"Training is key to ensuring that the sport and physical activity sector creates and maintains accessible opportunities for disabled people. I know how important the Hub will be in continuing to educate our staff and students at the University of Nottingham.
"It has been exciting to play a part in the development of the new Learning Hub and I'm looking forward to seeing the difference it will make."
