WheelPower – 22 May 2024
New Learn to Golf event welcomes people with disabilities back to the course
On Wednesday 15 May the national charity for wheelchair sport, WheelPower hosted their very first Learn to Play Golf Day at the Pyrford Lakes Golf Club in Surrey. This brand new event was delivered in partnership with Get Golfing and provided a fantastic opportunity for people with physical disabilities to return to the golf course. For some this was the first time they had played golf, but for others it was the first time they had played from their wheelchairs.
British Blind Sport – May 2024
Have a Go Day’s coming up in Cambridge, Derby and Berkshire
British Blind Sport (BBS) is hosting free sports taster events for blind and partially sighted people in Cambridge, Derby and Berkshire. The events will take place in June and feature a fantastic line-up of sporting activities for blind and partially sighted people of all ages and abilities to participate in alongside their friends and family. Activities available on the day will include goalball, blind and partially sighted football, judo, and more!

UK Deaf Sport Participation in Sport and Physical Activity Survey 2024
UK Deaf Sport are carrying out a survey to find out about the participation of people who are deaf or have a hearing loss in sport and physical activity.
If you are deaf or have a hearing loss, please click on the survey link to access the survey. The survey questions are available in BSL.
The survey can be completed until Monday 15 July 2024.
Special Olympics GB - 28 may
Athletes set new Guinness World Record titles in RideLondon-Essex100
Following on from Lloyd Martin’s incredible achievements at last month’s TCS London Marathon, Special Olympics Surrey Cycling Club athletes Tom Kelsall and Hannah Kemp have set new Guinness World Records titles by completing the Ford RideLondon-Essex100.
Tom and Hannah, alongside fellow Special Olympics Surrey Cycling Club athlete Ben Jacob, completed a 100-mile cycle, which started in central London and toured the Essex countryside before finishing on the historic Tower Bridge over the River Thames.
