WheelPower Sports Festivals expand for 2024
The WheelPower Sports Festivals are one day sport events that take place at various locations throughout the United Kingdom, bringing the opportunity to play and enjoy sport to local disabled people.
Organised by WheelPower, the national charity for wheelchair sport, these free events provide a life changing opportunity to anyone over five years of age with a physical disability to come along, try a variety of sports, make new friends and most importantly have fun. They are a great introduction to the many health and wellbeing benefits of taking part in activity.
This year WheelPower plans to hold Sports Festivals in Sheffield, Wiltshire, Liverpool, Glasgow, London and Buckinghamshire. There will be at least five sports on offer at all events and each festival will be supported by locally based, qualified and experienced coaches.
Emily Weller, Head of Sport and Physical Activity at WheelPower, said:
"The WheelPower Sports Festivals have continued to grow in popularity over the last couple of years and we are delighted to be able to bring this event to even more venues across the United Kingdom.
"These events attract people of all ages, and whether you are five or 75 the huge physical and well being benefits that come from playing sport can be enjoyed by everyone.
"After coming to a festival we hope that participants will go away with a boost of confidence, plenty of contacts and new friendships that will support them to continue playing sport in their own communities. Sport really does have the power to transform lives so whether you are trying it for the first time, or returning after a break then we would absolutely love to see you at a WheelPower Sports Festival in 2024.”
The WheelPower Sports Festivals are open to schools, local groups and individuals. For more information visit the Sports Event page on WheelPower’s website.
