LimbPower – 30 November 2023
LimbPower, a leading advocate for amputees and limb-different individuals, proudly announces the successful completion of 'Make Every Contact Count' (MECC) training for its entire staff and key volunteers. This initiative aims to bolster community engagement and further support the wellbeing of beneficiaries. Additionally, LimbPower's CEO has attained qualification as a MECC trainer, reinforcing the organisation's commitment to driving positive change.
Special Olympics GB – 17 November 2023
Basketball opportunities continue to grow in Special Olympics GB network
Special Olympics Great Britain Competition and Development Manager Rachael Crack has told Basketball England that opportunities for people to play learning disability basketball are growing each year.
Her comments came at the first event of a brand-new Special Olympics GB (SOGB) Basketball Series, which started on the 11 November at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester.
A collaboration between SOGB and Disability Opportunities in Sport UK (DOSportUK), who offer sport and physical activity sessions to people with a disability and run a network of basketball clubs across Derbyshire and Greater Manchester, the first instalment of the Series saw Special Olympics athletes from the East and West Midlands, London, North West and Yorkshire and the Humber descend on Manchester for a day of competition.
WheelPower – November 2023
Engaging Wheelchair Participants in Sport
WheelPower is the national charity for wheelchair sport and their mission is to support disabled people of all ages to lead healthier and more active lives through movement, activity and sport.
This year WheelPower delivered 12 Engaging Wheelchair Participants in Sport online training courses to over 200 people across the United Kingdom. The course provides a fantastic resource for students, teachers and coaches to develop their knowledge of inclusive practice for use in their own communities. The charity is pleased to announce the first new course dates for 2024 delivered by Louise Hunt (former GB wheelchair tennis player) and Mark Bullock (inclusive sports coach). British Blind Sport – 15 November 2023

Are you aged 16-25 years with a visual impairment and passionate about sport and physical activity? If the answer is 'yes', then you could help make a visible difference in sport!
British Blind Sport (BBS) is excited to launch the Youth Ambassador Programme (YAP). The programme will provide a unique development opportunity for young people to work closely with BBS staff, its members, volunteers, participants, and partner organisations, bringing together ambassadors from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.
They are seeking active individuals who want to inspire others and act as a voice for young blind and partially sighted people, helping them to raise awareness and increase opportunities across the UK.
UK Deaf Sport – November 2023
UK Deaf Sport are asking the Government to end the discrimination against elite deaf athletes and fund and support them as they do Olympic and Paralympic athletes and support the DeaflympicsGB Team to compete at the Deaflympics.
Around £600 Million is spent every four years on Olympic and Paralympic sport through UK Sport but the current Government policy excludes deaf athletes from accessing it. UK Deaf Sport want to readdress this discrimination.
