Get Active on World Deaf Day
UK Deaf Sport is committed to raising awareness of opportunities for the whole deaf community to be active to improve physical and mental health and feelings of loneliness. UK Deaf Sport have collated a host of deaf specific and deaf friendly activities for the deaf community to take part in, in their local communities. All of this information is hosted on multiple activity finder functions such as Get Active and can be filtered by location, type of activity, time of day and accessibility.
Special Olympics GB – 21 September 2023
Special Olympics Great Britain launches volunteer recruitment for first National Winter Games
Special Olympics Great Britain, the United Kingdom’s biggest provider of sports training and competition for people with intellectual disabilities, has today opened its registrations for Event Volunteers at its first ever National Winter Games in Folgaria, Italy, next year.
Taking place from 27 January to 3 February, Folgaria 2024 will bring together nearly 80 Special Olympics GB athletes from England, Scotland and Wales to compete in Alpine Skiing and Figure Skating as well as have a go at Sledging and another Special Olympics Winter Sport, SnowShoeing.
WheelPower – 20 September 2023
Recently injured patients discover the benefits of sport with WheelPower
Over 70 recently injured patients discovered the benefits of sport at the 2023 WheelPower Inter Spinal Unit Games. This life changing event returned to Stoke Mandeville in September providing people with spinal cord injuries with the opportunity to try 20 different sports from Archery to Wheelchair Racing.

’30 in 30’ Fundraising Campaign
The Dwarf Sports Association UK is celebrating its 30th Anniversary. Over the past three decades, it’s been dedicated to promoting inclusivity and providing opportunities for individuals with dwarfism to participate in sports and lead active lives. To celebrate this incredible journey, it’s launching the ’30 in 30′ campaign throughout the month of October.
British Blind Sport – September 2023
‘Have A Go Day’ events
British Blind Sport (BBS) is hosting free sports taster events across the country for blind and partially sighted people. BBS Have a Go Days have been held successfully across the country since 2016, encouraging blind and partially sighted people to become more active. The event will give blind and partially sighted people in Bristol and the surrounding area the opportunity to try adapted sports and learn about inclusive opportunities that they can continue to enjoy and participate in after the event.
