Annual Disability and Activity Survey 2022-23 launch date confirmed
On Tuesday 13 June 2023, we will release our latest Annual Disability and Activity Survey report for 2022-23. Almost 2,000 people took part in the survey from August to November last year. Since then, we’ve been working with disabled people and key partners to explore the data. It gives detailed insight into disabled people’s perceptions and experiences of sport and activity since last year and before the pandemic.
The project complements Sport England’s Active Lives Adult Survey, helping us understand why disabled people are still twice as likely to be inactive as non-disabled people.
This year, our report covers new topics that disabled people told us were most important to them. It will include detail on how being active is affected by:
- Personal finances and the rising cost-of-living.
- Physical health and healthcare professionals.
- Mental health and wellbeing.
- Co-production, influence, and representation.
We will also release a separate report shortly after, created with the Get Out Get Active programme’s local partners. This explores how other demographic factors relate to disabled people’s access to and experience of being active. This will be followed by a report exploring differences between disabled people with different types of impairment.
Please follow the latest updates on Twitter using #ActivityAllianceSurvey and look out for communication from us in the run up to the release date. The executive summary, full report, and accessible formats for 2022-23 will be available on our annual survey research page from Tuesday 13 June.
Online research briefing: Monday 19 June 2023, 2-3pm
Following the report launch, we will be hosting a free online research briefing event to share and discuss the report's key findings. The session will bring together people and organisations from many sectors including sport, leisure, and disability. Join Activity Alliance colleagues, and research participants to explore the survey findings and areas for action.
The session will help you to:
- Understand key findings, including key areas for change and action.
- Hear from research participants on their lived experience, and how we worked together in the project.
- Connect with and hear from other organisations on how to collectively use the findings and recommendations for positive change.
- Share your input on how we can improve the Year 5 survey, and how you can be involved.
