EFDS fundraisers conquer the tower to support events programme!
This weekend (10-11 May) the English Federation of Disability Sport’s daredevil fundraisers ‘dropped for Sport’ as they took on the tower at Canary Wharf. Money raised topped £12,000 for the charity- and will make a huge difference in sport for disabled people.
75 brave fundraisers abseiled down the Northern Trust building one of the mighty towers on the Canary Wharf estate. Standing at a height of 200 feet the building welcomed ladybirds, fairies, monkeys, a giraffe and even a crayon to abseil!
Celebrity, Jodie Marsh, joined the abseilers on the Sunday along with her brother Jordan. Her support made OK Magazine this week too.
Many took on the challenge to face their fear of heights, whilst some roped in work colleagues to face the wall as a team.
Wendy Hewer from BNY Mellon took on the tower with her colleagues. She said:
“This was such a personal challenge as I am terrified of heights. I feel fantastic and super proud to have done this today and for such a great cause.”
The English Federation of Disability Sport has a vision that disabled people are active for life. The Disability Sport Events programme provides participation opportunities for disabled people to take part in sport at whatever level they choose. The money raised from the abseil will go directly into this self-funded programme.
