Take on the Manchester Marathon for Activity Alliance
Take on the Manchester Marathon for Activity Alliance and raise money to support our vision - fairness for disabled people in sport and activity.
The Manchester Marathon returns Sunday 3 April 2022 and we’re looking for 15 fundraisers to join our team.
Now into its fourth decade, the Manchester Marathon prides itself on being one of the friendliest marathons out there. It’s also the UK’s flattest marathon - perfect if you are looking to achieve a PB, with only 55m elevation gain, or if you are taking on your very first marathon.
Why fundraise for Activity Alliance
The impact of the last year has been felt by the whole nation. Disabled people and people with long-term health conditions have been hit the hardest. There is no getting away from it. The statistics are frightening. Disabled people account for 6 in 10 of COVID-19 deaths from January to November 2020. The pandemic has not only widened many existing inequalities for disabled people, but it has also created new ones too.
Disabled people are the least active in our population – twice as likely to be inactive as non-disabled people. Before the pandemic, we were seeing glimmers of hope as disabled people’s activity levels were improving. Findings in our most recent Annual Disability and Activity Survey show we face a real crisis in tackling disabled people’s fears and rebuilding confidence. As the leading voice for disabled people in sport and activity, we are seriously concerned about the potential long-term damage to the nation’s least active.
Your support can help us in our vision of achieving fairness for disabled people in sport and activity. We cannot do this alone.
All runners will also benefit from:
- an Activity Alliance branded running vest,
- training advice and guidance, social media group support,
- Activity Alliance Fundraising pack and support, ideas, and guidance.
