Entries open for Disability Sport Events' Boccia Championships
The entry pack for the annual Disability Sport Events (DSE) Boccia Open Championships is now available online and the tournament is open for entries. It is being managed and delivered by Disability Sport Events, an English Federation of Disability Sport programme.
The DSE Boccia Open provides a fantastic opportunity for boccia players from all over the country to come together to take part in a fun and challenging competition. It will be held in Sheffield on 15 and 16 March 2014 at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.
Boccia is a target ball sport, similar to french boules and is played in over 50 countries worldwide. Athletes, throw, kick or use a ramp to propel balls onto court with the aim of getting closest to the ‘jack ball’. It tests skills of accuracy, concentration and nerve.
The DSE Open Championships is the only national multi impairment competition. It is open to all players with physical, sensory and intellectual impairments. Competitors will be split into groupings based on the BISfed classifications (BC1-BC4) and also the Disability Sport Events' profiling system (BC5-BC8).
Disability Sport Events (DSE) is a renowned programme managed by the English Federation of Disability Sport. The events team has delivered a range of regional, national and international participation opportunities for disabled people. The aim is to increase opportunities at every level, giving disabled people a choice of how and where to be active. These can vary from high participation sports like swimming and athletics, to multi-sport experiences.
