Activity Alliance attends Kidz to Adultz North 2018
Activity Alliance and GreaterSport headed north on Thursday 8 November to Disabled Living’s annual Kidz to Adultz exhibition, at EventCity in Manchester. The day saw representatives from both organisations promote the Sainsbury’s Inclusive PE Training programme, the new Inclusive Activity Programme, and local opportunities provided through Manchester's Get Out Get Active programme.
Disabled Living’s Kidz to Adultz North is one of the biggest UK exhibitions dedicated to disabled children, young adults and people with additional needs. As the doors opened Activity Alliance’s stand was soon busy with enquiries from physiotherapists, occupational therapists, carers, teachers and parents.
Our Inclusive Activity Programmes Support Officer, George Bollands and GreaterSport’s Disability Development Officer, Shannon Howarth were on hand throughout the day to answer questions about the Sainsbury’s Inclusive PE Training programme (IPE) and the Inclusive Activity Programme (IAP). They also provided visitors with information about how to become more active through local opportunities that are organised through the local Get Out Get Active (GOGA) Programme.
After the event, George said:
"Overall, Kidz to Adultz North was a great event for us, it provides us with a fantastic platform to reach a wider audience. Over 50 people registered their interest to receive further information on the Sainsbury’s IPE training and our new IAP programme, as well as local activity opportunities.
I truly feel that, whether it was handing out leaflets about our training programmes, or linking parents to local opportunities, we helped to make a difference to the lives of many young disabled people in the north of England and further afield."
Kidz to Adultz North was one of many exhibitions and conferences that Activity Alliance attends throughout the year.
Rhian McCarroll, Inclusive Activity Programmes Manager, explains why:
"Attendance at Disability Living’s Kidz to Adultz events allows us to connect with parents and professionals who are influential in supporting disabled people of all ages. Regardless of ability, we believe that every young person should have access to an active lifestyle. So the opportunity to inform and engage with influencers at events like this plays an important role in making this happen."
Disability Living’s next event is Kidz to Adultz Middle, taking place in Coventry on Thursday 21 March 2019.
