National charity, LimbPower is pleased to announce they will be hosting a multi-sport event for young amputees and adults with physical impairments in Manchester on Saturday 27 October 2018.

For many years, the LimbPower Junior and Adult Games has provided children, young people and adults with limb impairments with a great opportunity try out new sports and activities in a fun, friendly and supportive environment. LimbPower is delighted to expand their events programme this year and take the multisport concept to Manchester.

The Multisport event is open to children and young people aged five to eighteen with a physical impairment in the morning and in the afternoon the event is open to adults. Sports and activities on offer this year will include climbing, wheelchair basketball, track athletics, cycling, sitting volleyball, tennis, cricket and football (subject to change). For many participants, this event is one of the first opportunities they have to try out lots of different activities as an amputee.

Chief Executive at LimbPower, Kiera Roche said:

"More work is needed at a local level if we are to reach amputees and people with limb impairments and support them in becoming more active. Difficulty with transport and travel and the cost of participation are two of the barriers which prevent our community from participating in activity.
"We hope that running the Multisport event in Manchester, like we did in Birmingham last year will enable LimbPower to engage with local amputees and individuals with limb difference and support them back into activity."

LimbPower’s vision is to change lives through the power of sport, physical activity and the arts. The Multisport events support our ongoing work to increase the number of suitable and available activity opportunities for people with limb impairments in the UK.

The event is proudly supported by Irwin Mitchell, Ossur, STEPS and Beast.
