Celebrating Get Out Get Active volunteers
Today is the first day of Volunteers’ Week, which runs from 1-7 June. To mark the week, Get Out Get Active (GOGA) is celebrating volunteers’ positive impact on the programme.
Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK. Run by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), this year campaign’s focus is about volunteering for all – celebrating the huge range of people who give their time in so many ways.
GOGA is an exciting new programme that supports disabled and non-disabled people to enjoy being active together. Funded by Spirit of 2012, all partners are focused on getting some of the UK's least active people moving more through fun and inclusive activities.
Volunteering Matters delivers high social impact volunteer projects across the UK in response to some of the most difficult challenges facing individuals and their communities today. They engage more than 30,000 volunteers and 90,000 beneficiaries every year through 180 active programmes. They believe that everyone can play a role in their community and should have the chance to participate; we build projects and programmes to reflect this.
Volunteering Matters’ role as a national partner on GOGA is to ensure a consistent volunteering programme with high-quality opportunities. They support partners with volunteer recruitment, deliver bespoke volunteer management consultancy. A month ago, they released a toolkit packed with resources and better practice tips on how to run an inclusive volunteering programme.
Each day this week GOGA's site will present a volunteer to showcase some of the amazing things they do for their communities!
It is a fantastic opportunity to thank your volunteers and recognise the difference they make on your projects and in their communities.
