Team Nationwide takes on the Big Half for EFDS
The first Vitality Big Half Marathon took place on Sunday 4 March 2018. Thousands of runners took part and the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) was delighted to have a team of 27 runners from Nationwide Building Society lining up at the start, raising in total over £10,000 for the charity.
The Nationwide team consisted of seasoned runners, fun runners and first time runners, but the essence of team spirit was incredible.
John Somerville, Training Manager for Nationwide and avid EFDS supporter said:
“I have now run for EFDS for several years now, and covered several London Marathons and the Great North Run. On every occasion, I have shared my stories and got a huge amount of sponsorship and support from all my colleagues at Nationwide. When EFDS contacted me last year offering 27 places for the Big Half, I saw this as my opportunity to give something back to them and inspire more of my friends and colleagues to get active and raise a huge amount of money for the charity.
"The Values that Nationwide are built on, Building a National Treasure, Building PRIDE, Building Legendary Service, Building a Thriving Membership and Being Built to Last are values that support many charities which is why our team of runners have had no trouble in finding sponsorship and support from throughout the Nationwide Network.
"It was incredible seeing everyone in action, and seeing how this incredible team have bonded over the last few months, all for such a fantastic charity.”
Thank you to all the team, who help us to make active lives possible. Many of the team have now committed to future running events raising funds for EFDS.
