FA Disability Cup returns to St George's Park
The FA Disability Cup returns this summer with England’s top grassroots teams competing at the national football centre, St. George’s Park, on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 June.
Run for the first time in the 2015-16 season, the FA Disability Cup finals brings together a number of impairment-specific partner competitions for a fantastic weekend of football action. A key date in the football calendar, St. George’s Park provides a world-class backdrop for the culmination of each partner competition’s cup final.
The competition, now in its third year, is the largest of its kind in this country and this year it has been expanded to include a sixth partner competition for partially sighted players.
The 2017-18 FA Disability Cup will include six cup finals played across the weekend 16-17 June for the following impairment groups:
Saturday 16 June
- 10.30am: Powerchair Cup Final (mixed age and gender) in partnership with the Wheelchair Football Association
- 1.45pm: Cerebral Palsy Cup Final (adult male) in partnership Cerebral Palsy Sport
- 4pm: Partially Sighted Cup (adult male) in partnership with the British Blind Sport Partially Sighted Football League
Sunday 17 June
- 10.30am: Amputee Cup Final (adult male) in partnership with England Amputee Football Association
- 1pm: Deaf Cup Final (U16 female) in partnership with English Schools Football Association
- 3pm: Blind Cup Final (adult male) in partnership with the National Blind Football League
As well as the introduction of a partially sighted category, this year’s event will also play host to an exhibition of frame football. A new format of the game currently being developed in conjunction with Cerebral Palsy Sport for people who use a frame or walker.
