FA Disability Cup returns for 2017

Build-up to the second annual FA Disability Cup intensifies this month, with a series of events looking ahead to the final showpiece day at St George's Park on Saturday 6 May. This year's event will feature domestic finals in Powerchair, blind, cerebral palsy, amputee and deaf football.

The FA Disability Cup provides players within impairment-specific football with a national FA competition to take part in, with dreams of reaching St. George’s Park for finals day.

It is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the players, coaches and volunteers involved in our partner competitions, and provides a platform for raising awareness of the opportunities that exist for everyone within football. “Following the success of last year’s inaugural FA Disability Cup, we are all looking forward to another successful event. We remain committed to ensuring this is a landmark day to look forward to on the football calendar each year.”

The introduction of amputee football to the Cup this year will be highlighted at National League grounds around the country on Saturday 18 March. The winners of the regular season league and cup will contest the final in May.

The following weekend National League fixtures will help showcase the cerebral palsy final - won last year by Manchester-based CP United. Winners of Cerebral Palsy Sport's National Cerebral Palsy Football League northern and southern conferences will face each other in the final at St George's Park.

The Wheelchair Football Association National Cup semi-finals take place at the end of the month, and that weekend will coincide with a look at who could rival current Champions Aspire in this year’s Powerchair final.

In the blind football competition, winners of the Brian Aarons Cup on Saturday 8 April will provide one of the finalists for the blind final. They will meet winners of the  National Blind Football League.

Another new addition to this year's event is the deaf football competition. In partnership with English Schools Football Association, the FA Disability Cup will host a deaf cup final for U18 women this year.
