Hot on the heels of a fantastic summer of sporting success for Team ParalympicsGB and the Games in Rio - British Blind Sport's annual Festival of VI (visually impaired) Sport takes place this Saturday, 22 October in Coventry.
The Festival of VI Sport is a free event for blind and partially sighted people of all ages and abilities. Showcasing many differents sport and activities, the event is a great opportunity for visually impaired children and adults, along with friends and family to have fun and enjoy being active. You might even discover a passion for sport!
Alaina MacGregor, Chief Executive of British Blind Sport said:
"We are delighted to hold our annual Festival of Sport for visually impaired children and adults so soon after the Paralympic Games. Rio 2016 has no doubt sparked interest for many people and we hope that the event will provide new opportunities for those living with sight loss to see if sport is for them.”
Taking place just after the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the Festival is a great opportunity to celebrate Great Britain's sporting success and get in on the action yourself. Sports and activities available at the event include: athletics, bowls, cricket, cycling, equestrian, football, goalball, judo, rock climbing and swimming. All activities will be delivered by qualified coaches with experience of coaching people with visual impairments.
On the day there will be an option to follow a sporting timetable, so that participants if they wish can try out all sports on offer. Alternatively participants can try out each activity in their own time. There is no competitive format to the Festival, it is simply all about giving sport a go and having fun. Friends and family are also encouraged to get involved and take part.
British Blind Sport's Festival of VI Sport takes place on Saturday 22 October at Bablake School in Coventry, from 12 noon until 4.30pm and is free to attend.
