EFDS performs coin toss at Davis Cup thanks to the Betway Group
Earlier this year, the Betway Group announced the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) was to be one of their official charity partners of the year. As part of the partnership, former Paralympian and EFDS Board member, Fran Williamson performed the coin toss at a recent Davis Cup match.
The partnership kick-started when a group of over 100 of their enthusiastic employees lined up to run the Silverstone Half Marathon to raise money for the EFDS.
As part of their CSR programme, the Betway Group offered EFDS the chance to perform the coin toss at the Davis Cup on Friday 16 September 2016. Former Paralympian and EFDS Board member, Fran Williamson enjoyed the moment before the Kyle Edmund v Guido Pella contest.
Betway, one of the world’s leading betting and gaming companies set the challenge at the start of this year for their employees to raise a £25,000 target for 2016. The funds raised will go towards the EFDS’s Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI), which supports facility providers to improve their services to become more inclusive to disabled people. IFI relies on sponsorship and fundraising to increase opportunities for disabled people to be active in their local areas.
Betway Group employees have been taking part in a variety of fundraising events throughout 2016, including the London Marathon and Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, as well as weekly social fundraisers and the donation of profits from their in-house coffee sales.
Speaking about the opportunity, Richard Akitt, Betway Group CEO, said:
“The work that the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) do is crucial to the health and well-being of thousands of people across the country, and we couldn’t be more proud to support the charity.”
