Public asked to SuperCharge ParalympicsGB with Cadbury Wini Eggs

To mark 100 days to go to the Paralympic Games in Rio, the British public will have the chance to Supercharge ParalympicsGB through a brand new product, Cadbury Wini Eggs.

Supercharge ParalympicsGB

Launched by snacking company and British Paralympic Association (BPA) partner Mondelez International and on sale from July, a proportion of the sale of every pack of the special edition Cadbury Mini Eggs product – renamed Cadbury Wini Eggs - will go towards the Supercharge campaign to support ParalympicsGB.

It will be the first time that the firm Easter-time favourite will be sold outside of its usual period, and the first time it has been renamed in support of a cause.

The BPA launched Supercharge ParalympicsGB in January 2016 as the first ever major public facing campaign to generate support and raise funds for ParalympicsGB. Funds raised will help the team to receive the best possible support and preparation in the final crucial months before Rio 2016 in order to win medals and achieve personal best performances.

Tim Hollingsworth, Chief Executive of the BPA said:

“This is an exciting announcement for us, the first time that we can provide the Great British public with a chance to make a difference to the team’s preparations through buying a much loved product to support ParalympicsGB ahead of Rio 2016.

“The limited edition Cadbury Wini Eggs look fantastic and I’m looking forward to seeing them on the shelves in just a few weeks’ time.  Thank you to Mondelez International for their support and indeed all our partners at this critical time for the BPA and the Paralympic movement.”

Mondelez International have three ambassadors who they are supporting in their efforts to compete for ParalympicsGB in Rio. The athletes are: Swindon wheelchair tennis ace, Louise Hunt; para-rower, Grace Clough, and British Paralympic Judo competitor, Sam Ingram.

Sam Ingram, who recently qualified to be part of the Judo team, said:

"Taking part in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games has always been a goal for me and I aim to compete at my very best. The Cadbury Wini Eggs campaign is a fantastic opportunity for the public to support the ParalympicsGB team in the coming months as we go through our final preparations, as well as supporting teams of the future.”

Declan Duggan, Brand Manager for Cadbury Bitesize, said:

“In this Paralympic year we are delighted to be partnering with the British Paralympic Association and giving our support to ParalympicsGB on their journey to Rio and beyond while giving consumers something they constantly call for – a chance to eat their much-loved Cadbury Mini Eggs outside of its traditional season.”

Supercharge ParalympicsGB is the BPA’s public campaign to get the nation behind ParalympicsGB in 2016.

The public can help ‘supercharge’ the team by fundraising, donating and signing up to follow their progress here.
