London Marathon runner: "Marathon has always been on my bucket list"

The Virgin Money London Marathon 2016 takes place on Sunday 24 April, and this year the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) will have 25 runners pounding the streets.

This EFDS team once again consists of a variety of experienced and novice marathon runners. Emma Jarvis is a Sponsorship Manager at the Betway Group, whose employees are dedicated to fundraising £35,000 over 2016 through a number of fundraising initiatives.

One of these fundraising opportunities is competing in the London Marathon, and Emma told EFDS about securing her place on the start line:

“The Marathon has always been on my bucket list and when my name got pulled out of the hat I couldn’t believe it.
“I am very much involved in sport through my job and I am proud to be raising money to ensure that sporting opportunities really are possible for everyone.”

A first-time marathon runner, Emma is currently nursing an ankle injury. But with under a fortnight to go until the big day she remains determined to complete the race.

“At the start line I think I will be fuelled with emotion and excitement! This is a huge challenge and so many people have supported me along the way.”

EFDS wishes Emma all the best in her first marathon, and we thank her and the 24 other individuals who are raising funds for EFDS by participating in the event.
