Jordanne Whiley and three more Brits ready for Australian Open
US Open champion Jordanne Whiley will face Marjolein Buis from the Netherlands when she begins her quest for a second successive wheelchair tennis Grand Slam singles title on Wednesday at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
With four Brits on the Tennis Foundation’s Wheelchair Tennis World Class Programme contesting the first Grand Slam of 2016, Lucy Shuker also faces Dutch opposition as she prepares to take on defending champion Jiske Griffioen.
Meanwhile, Gordon Reid and Andy Lapthorne will face world No.1 ranked opposition in their opening matches.
Reid is drawn against Shingo Kunieda in the men’s singles and former US Open champion Andy Lapthorne also plays his doubles partner, Australia’s Dylan Alcott, in the first of his three quad singles round-robin matches.

“I pulled out of the Melbourne Open last week as a precaution as I’ve had an injury over the last week, but I've been hitting really well over the last few days.
"I've been looking forward to the draw, knowing that whoever I get I will be ready to play.”
