Notts CYP club wins table tennis equipment competition
Table Tennis England teamed up with the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) to give one lucky organisation the chance to win an indoor table tennis table worth £350.00.
In order to win organisations were required to write a 300 word piece on how they ensured disabled and non-disabled people played alongside each other in a welcoming environment.
We were overwhelmed with the response. There were a range of high quality entries and we can now reveal that Nottingham Children and Young People’s club is the lucky winner!
Here is their winning article:
Nottingham Children and Young People’s Club (Notts CYP) was established in 1935 and has an excellent proven track record of working with young people across Nottinghamshire. They have recently started an inclusive club for young disabled people and provide events as well as training for young people. We want them to grow and develop as active and responsible citizens and reach their full potential.
One example of this is Kieron Walton, who has recently won the Community volunteer of the year award at his school for his work at Notts CYP. Kieron who has profound global development delay, autism, cerebral palsy and complex needs has completed his first aid course and also an introductory course in British Sign Language. He attends regularly and participates in table tennis. Kieron is one of the members who will enjoy the new table.

“I am really pleased to win this opportunity to have a logo embossed table tennis table. Table tennis is really popular at our disability club so an extra table will create more opportunity for the young people to participate; thank you”
Table Tennis England's Clubs and Disability Officer Steve McFadyen, said:
“We are really passionate about providing opportunities for everyone to play our great sport and are delighted to be supporting Nott’s CYP club to offer inclusive table tennis. We are thrilled to be working with EFDS to help more disability organisations offer table tennis.”
