LimbPower Primary Games proves a winner with young amputees
Over 100 children enjoyed LimbPower's Primary Games recently. Taking place at Stoke Mandeville Stadium on 10 and 11 October, the event supports young amputees and those with limbloss to get involved in a range of sporting activities.
Participants enjoyed sports such as wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, badminton, sailing simulation, and archery in a fun, friendly and inclusive environment. They were under the guidance of experienced mentors and instructors including Paralympians.
The Junior Games aims to help young amputees to discover their potential through sport. They are all about having fun while encouraging the children to build confidence by trying new activities. There was also plenty of time to socialise with their peers and make new friends.
LimbPower founder and Primary Games organiser Kiera Roche said:
“Hearing the individual stories from parents about how the Junior Games has helped their child with their self-confidence, social inclusion and physical ability makes all the hours spent organising the event worthwhile, it reminds us of why the staff, sponsors, volunteers and parents give up their weekend to be a part of this amazing day”.
