LimbPower to host 8th LimbPower Games at Stoke Mandeville Stadium

Internationally recognised as the birthplace of the Paralympic movement, Stoke Mandeville Stadium will host the 8th annual LimbPower Games on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May.

LimbPower, the National Disability Sports Organisation (NDSO) for amputees and people with a limb impairment will host its flagship event at Stoke Mandeville Stadium next month. On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May, amputees and people with limb impairments from around the UK will come together at the Games to take part in a range of sporting activities. This year’s event will be a special highlight for LimbPower, as it’s the first Games to take place since LimbPower achieved National Disability Sports Organisation status in August 2014. Generous support from Blatchfords, Boost, Stewart’s Law, Limbless Association, WheelPower, and fundraising contributions should ensure that the 2015 LimbPower Games are the best yet.

For many participants the LimbPower Games is one of the first opportunities they have to try out new sports and activities. Among the sports on offer this year are: Athletics (track & field), cycling, hand cycling, wheelchair racing, archery, table tennis, tennis, badminton, swimming, shooting, powerlifting, basketball, yoga, canoeing, rowing, sitting volleyball, football, wheelchair dance sport and golf.

Over the years the LimbPower Games has helped many amputees to gain confidence, improve mobility and find a sport or activity they really enjoy.

The Games support LimbPower's on-going work to increase the number of sporting opportunities available for amputees and those living with limb loss in the UK.
