Activity Alliance Annual Survey Impairment Report (Sept 2024)
Activity Alliance’s Impairment Report provides additional data analysis of the results from our Annual Disability and Activity Survey 2023-24. It looks in detail at how different impairment types can impact disabled people’s perceptions and experiences of sport and activity.
971 disabled people and people with long-term health conditions took part in an online survey between October and November 2023. The report explores participation and experiences, cost of living, mental health and loneliness and representation and belonging.
It outlines key data for people with seven types of impairment compared to the overall sample of disabled people, non-disabled people, and to previous years. The seven impairment types analysed were mobility, long-term health condition, mental health, hearing, visual, social or behavioural, and learning, understanding or concentrating.
The sample size for each impairment type was:
- Mobility: 613
- Learning, understanding, or concentrating: 93
- Long-term health condition: 338
- Mental health: 288
- Hearing: 133
- Visual: 71
- Social or behavioural: 94
Most people who took part in the survey have more than one impairment.
This report provides valuable insight and recommendations for organisations and individuals who work with people with specific impairments to ensure they are being accessible and inclusive.
Please contact Activity Alliance’s research team to discuss how to access and use the data, or how to implement the recommendations. Email the research team or call 01509 227750.
